Parent Pride Meeting Monday October 24, 2016

Dear parents,

Our first High School Parent Pride meeting will be on Monday, October 24, 2016, from 6:00 to 7:30PM in the AIS Library. Ms. Murray will present on our IB Diploma Program and Mr. Ray will be available to answer questions regarding university applications.

What is Parent Pride ?

AIS high school recognizes the vital role parents play in the development and education of their children and in the success of the school generally.  Parent Pride is a monthly meeting involving parents and the administration. It provides a regular opportunity for parents to share ideas, offer input and enjoy informative presentations on education and related topics.  Parent Pride makes parental engagement a priority by providing ongoing support and promotes two-way communication and dialogue between parents and the school.

Goal of ‘Parent Pride’:

  • Create an environment that fosters open communication between home and school.
  • Develop relationships between home and school that promotes collaborative school improvement efforts.
  • Provide an avenue for parents to share their thoughts and ideas.

Purpose of ‘Parent Pride’:

  • Gather information and feedback about current practices;
  • Collect ideas about future direction and new initiatives;
  • Provide parents with information about the school;
  • encourage, and enhance  meaningful parental involvement;
  • collaborate with the parents to support student success;
  • Increase representative parent voice (not a forum for individual concerns).

Please plan to attend for a very informative evening!

Progress Reports on Plus Portals

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This week you will be receiving progress reports for your children in Grade 9 through Grade 12.  These progress reports are to encourage you to become more familiar with our Plus Portals program, and to provide you with early information about how your son or daughter is doing in their subjects.  With the first report period approaching in late November, we are attempting to provide information to students and parents so they are aware of how they are doing.  Where necessary we hope that it may also allow students to seek the assistance they need to raise grades before that report.

We would ask you to log-in to Plus Portals. (if you are unsure how click here) There you will find a report memo for all of your child’s classes.  If they are experiencing any concerns, there will be a narrative that explains the concern and directs the student as to what is needed to improve results.  Please check your email for the information needed to access Plus Portals.  Over the next week reports will be available for all classes.

If you have any questions please contact your child’s teachers, oreither Dave Butler at dave.butler@ais-kuwait.org or me, Steve Thompson at steven.thompson@ais-kuwait.org
